April Fools is upon us and Climate is celebrating for the entire month with a Festival of Fabulous Foolishness! While baking a fake spider into a cake or replacing your roommate's shampoo with Nair may seem like fun- this will be better!!!!! But that's just the beginning. There's also music, improv, storytelling, new works by our resident artists, and Modal Kombat- which uses real guitars to control video games and play good music at the same time. Basically, there's lots of work I'm very excited about and think you will be too. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- *Legs & All with Summer Shapiro & Peter Musante Tickets to all shows available at www.brownpapertickets.com Read all about it! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Forget about using a plastic guitar to mimic your favorite band. What if you could use a real guitar just like any other video game joystick -- and thrash your opponent while you create original music? Two classically-trained New York City guitarists calling themselves "Modal Kombat" have hacked into classic video games Pong, Tetris, Mortal Kombat and Mario Kart. They'll make their characters move -- and battle against each other -- with a flurry of guitar-plucking. click here for tickets -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Theme: I faked it Fireside is a monthly storytelling series, taking place the last Wednesday of every month. Come watch six storytellers tell 10-minute true stories on a particular theme, without the aid of notes or a script, keeping the fine art of storytelling alive. click here for more information -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Legs and All conceived by Summer Shapiro, created and performed with Peter Musante, returns to Climate after a sellout run in the SF Fringe Festival in September, and most recently from a sellout run in NYC (Frigid Festival)! San Francisco's beloved physical comedienne Summer Shapiro, teams up with equally talented clown Peter Musante (Blue Man Group - NY), for 50 minutes of kinetic comedy and subtle pathos, all supported by a tango-meets-bluegrass score. "an inspired bit of performance art created and executed splendidly by two world-class physical comedians" -LA Entertainment Today *Best of The Best in 2009 Bay Area Theatre - SF Bay Times *2009 Ticketholder Award for Best Special Event/Performance *Top 5 Best Original Works of 2009 -Chloe Veltman, lies like truth ArtsJournal click here for tickets -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- See the latest works in progress from Climate's amazingly talented group of resident artists. A child tumbles through a giant mouth, Ann Coulter & Bill O'Reilly discuss who knows what, an iceberg melts, someone's tongue is cut out, there is music, there is comedy. These are pieces which take some very interesting risks. Including excerpts of new work by :
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Always a good way to start a month. Climate, the Clown Conservatory & Pi; the physical comedy troupe bring you the Clown Cabaret each month featuring some of the best clowning in the area. This month will feature Robert Lopez (El Vez) and Will from Teatro ZinZanni, Poki (Matt McCorkle), Jan Damm, and of course the Pi Clowns. click here for tickets -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- KC Turner is bringing some of the best music around to our tiny stage every first and third Wednesday. What can I say about Misner & Smith other than I'm so excited to have them back on our stage. They were amazing at Freight & Salvage last month and will be heading on tour so catch them while you can. Americana music with harmonies that will break your heart and have you tapping your foot at the same time. With them are the Courtney Janes & The Skinny to bring you more foot-stomping, strumming, and bluegrass/folk sounds.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Shadow Circus is back! Combining folklore, mythology, Lovecraftian monsters and pop-culture parody, Shadow Circus Creature Theatre has been one of San Francisco's most popular and outrageous puppetry troupes since it's formation in 2000. Using life-sized latex and foam creatures Shadow Circus creates a world that is utterly fantastic, and yet hilariously similar to our own. And they bring with them 3 truly fantastic Special Guests. click here for tickets -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using masks, circus, and original music by Johannes Mager, the Advanced Students of the Clown Conservatory bring China's most beloved and playful story to life. Over the years, the Clown Conservatory has taken some of the wildest adventures, and brought them to life on stage with acrobatics, juggling, puppetry and music. This year promises to be no different. click here for tickets -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- The Flying Actor Studio is the brainchild of movement masters James Donlon & Leonard Pitt. Opening its doors only a year ago to much fanfare, this performance will highlight the work of their first class in the intensive physical training program. The imagination on fire with physical comedy, movement theater, neo-classic clown and mime, the zany and surreal.
