Dear Friends of Trickery, Mayhem and Joy,

April Fools is upon us and Climate is celebrating for the entire month with a Festival of Fabulous Foolishness! While baking a fake spider into a cake or replacing your roommate's shampoo with Nair may seem like fun- this will be better!!!!!

But that's just the beginning. There's also music, improv, storytelling, new works by our resident artists, and Modal Kombat- which uses real guitars to control video games and play good music at the same time.

Basically, there's lots of work I'm very excited about and think you will be too.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
April Fools Festival
All Month long (and then some) we'll be foolishly frolicking over at Climate
with a diverse selection of "clown" shows including:

*Legs & All with Summer Shapiro & Peter Musante
*The Climate's Clown Cabaret
*Shadow Circus Vaudeville Theater with Jill Parker, Zoe Boekbinder & Avi Khalsa
*Monkey King: A Circus Adventure by the Clown Conservatory
*Flying Actor Studio Showcase

Modal Kombat: Guitar Hero is Dead
Tuesday, March 30 at 8PM $10

Forget about using a plastic guitar to mimic your favorite band. What if you could use a real guitar just like any other video game joystick -- and thrash your opponent while you create original music?

Two classically-trained New York City guitarists calling themselves "Modal Kombat" have hacked into classic video games Pong, Tetris, Mortal Kombat and Mario Kart. They'll make their characters move -- and battle against each other -- with a flurry of guitar-plucking.

Fireside Stories
Wednesday, March 31 at 8PM $5

Theme: I faked it

Fireside is a monthly storytelling series, taking place the last Wednesday of every month. Come watch six storytellers tell 10-minute true stories on a particular theme, without the aid of notes or a script, keeping the fine art of storytelling alive.

Legs & All with Summer Shapro & Peter Musante
Thursday, April 1 - Saturday, April 10 $15-20
Thursday & Friday at 8PM, Saturday at 3PM & 8PM

Legs and All conceived by Summer Shapiro, created and performed with Peter Musante, returns to Climate after a sellout run in the SF Fringe Festival in September, and most recently from a sellout run in NYC (Frigid Festival)!

San Francisco's beloved physical comedienne Summer Shapiro, teams up with equally talented clown Peter Musante (Blue Man Group - NY), for 50 minutes of kinetic comedy and subtle pathos, all supported by a tango-meets-bluegrass score.

"an inspired bit of performance art created and executed splendidly by two world-class physical comedians" -LA Entertainment Today

*Best of The Best in 2009 Bay Area Theatre - SF Bay Times

*2009 Ticketholder Award for Best Special Event/Performance

*Top 5 Best Original Works of 2009 -Chloe Veltman, lies like truth ArtsJournal

Misner & Smith, The Skinny, and The Courtney Janes
Wednesday, April 7 at 7PM $7advance; $10 door

KC Turner is bringing some of the best music around to our tiny stage every first and third Wednesday.

What can I say about Misner & Smith other than I'm so excited to have them back on our stage. They were amazing at Freight & Salvage last month and will be heading on tour so catch them while you can. Americana music with harmonies that will break your heart and have you tapping your foot at the same time.

With them are the Courtney Janes & The Skinny to bring you more foot-stomping, strumming, and bluegrass/folk sounds.

with Special Guests Jill Parker, Zoe Boekbinder & Avi Khalsa

Shadow Circus is back! Combining folklore, mythology, Lovecraftian monsters and pop-culture parody, Shadow Circus Creature Theatre has been one of San Francisco's most popular and outrageous puppetry troupes since it's formation in 2000. Using life-sized latex and foam creatures Shadow Circus creates a world that is utterly fantastic, and yet hilariously similar to our own. And they bring with them 3 truly fantastic Special Guests.

"Unicycles and Ukuleles Photo Gallery"

Dear Friends,
It is that time of year again, the Graduating first year Clowns are touring their final show around the Bay Area, entertaining young and old and in between in schools, community centers, and special performances. Like our past graduates, they will go on to work for Cirque du Soliel, Ringling Brothers, Circus Monti, Cirque Eloize, to start their own companies and tour the world, win golden nose awards, revitalize the circus and theatre worlds, staff important local and national and international social circus programs that bring laughter where it is needed most, despite the barriers of danger, famine, poverty, ill health, disability, or other social isolations, as well as create new programs and new forms we have yet to consider.

Directed by the founder and director of the Clown Conservatory, Jeff Raz, "Unicycles and Ukuleles" the final touring show of the first year clowns, opens Sunday at 2 p.m. in San Francisco's Union square. The future stars of clowning are here, fine tuning their clown performance skills, and you get to see them now, and later you can say "i saw them when no one knew what a great clown they were going to be". Don't miss it! (Your next chance to see them ( in the final all Professional Conservatory of Circus Center San Francisco show of the year, Pratfalls and Rising Stars, June 12 -14 will cost you money).
